I spent the final days of 2017 in the heart of the middle east, Palestine. From seeing the one and only Al-Aqsa Mosque to smelling spices in busy Souqs, it was a trip full of colour, life and noise.
Recently the media has portrayed this place as a “danger zone” and “about to erupt”, especially after Trump ignorantly acknowledged Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. However, after seeing the suffering that the people of Palestine and Jerusalem have to endure and then experiencing the unbelievable hospitality and unwavering generosity that they gave to me and my family, I would urge each and everyone of you to visit one of the most beautiful places in the world, so religiously, ethnically and culturally diverse. Visit for its historical significance alone.
From the old city of Jerusalem to the Separation wall in Bethlehem, what I have learned on my journey here, I will carry with me forever. What you will learn, will change you for the better.
